Packing for a holiday when pregnant is easy, you basically put your entire maternity wardrobe into a case! There’s no “should I take this one or that one?” Chances are, you only have one so that’s that dilemma solved! The real challenge is how you transform your day-to-day wardrobe to make you feel more special wearing it on holiday…
Tip 1 – The Scarf… Remember the spotty or floral scarf in your Essentials List? Get a new one – it will give an entirely new look to your outfit and can be worn over plain maxi dresses as well as simple vests and are really handy for cooler evenings.
Tip 2 – The Jewellery… Hit Accessorize at the airport where you can save on VAT and get yourself a couple of pairs of statement earrings and a chunky bracelet. This will dress up even the plainest of looks.
Tip 3 – Golden skin… Some shimmery body lotion will give you a wonderful sheen and compliment your holiday glow. The best I have found is by Liz Earle called Sheer Gold Shimmer, it’s really subtle and won’t rub off on your clothes.
Tip 4 – Heels… In my opinion, there is nothing more glamorous than a pregnant woman in high heels, likewise, there is nothing more uncomfortable than a pregnant woman in high heels – the compromise? Wedges. You can’t beat Dune for comfort and all of their styles are elegant, perfect for going out in the evenings with jeans or your maxi dresses.
Tip 5 – The Bikini… My advice would be, if you can get away without a maternity tankini, go for a normal soft bikini in bra size. The absolute best are by Freya, I love this one and it has fold over briefs which will be perfect to sit beneath your bump.
If you are packing for a little one as well, check out JoJo Maman Bebe, they have a fantastic sale on at the moment and I have just bought the most adorable little sun hat for £3! It’s free delivery as well, so even if your summer hols are behind you – stock up for next year. The other 2 fashion essentials for my Scarlett are bibs and a swimming costume, don’t make the mistake of thinking “it’s just a bib” – that bib will be in nearly every one of your holiday snaps so make it a nice one! She is in that awful phase of wanting to feed herself with a fork, you can imagine the mess… Boots do some nice ones, but my favourites are Lassig bibs, you can get these cheaper on Amazon.
