So last week Scarlett started nursery… It was an emotional time for us both! Despite being desperate to put her in nursery for a day a week since Savannah was born, when it actually came down to completing the form I delayed for as long as I could! The first day didn’t go so well, there were lots of tears from all involved, the next day was better, and by day 3 she was literally skipping home singing her alphabet that she must have learnt that day with her key workers! Because of all the emotional trauma involved in starting nursery, I hadn’t actually given much thought or care to the clothes she was wearing each day, but safe to say that whatever she wore, it’s now in the ‘nursery only draw’. Putting her in old clothes isn’t really an option as these are being saved for Savannah (sorry Savannah), so instead I have bought a new nursery wardrobe with practicality and cost in mind. This means I can still wave her goodbye in a gorgeous little outfit but won’t be devastated when she returns home with it covered in PVA glue. Here are some of my finds…
H&M is usually my first stop when getting the girls new clothes, it is so reasonably priced and the long sleeved tees in particular are great quality. I like to keep Scarlett in bright and bold prints and colours, (this is also great at disguising nursery stains) so these 2 packs of tees for £5.99 are perfect. Plus, there are loads of H&M voucher codes if you shop online, check them out here.
Scarlett spent all summer in H&M skater dresses, and I’m pleased to see they have an autumn equivalent. Love this little black and white number for less than a fiver, it will look perfect with her multi coloured high top trainers.
Leggings can be a bit hit and miss in H&M, for guaranteed fit and comfort at a reasonable price I usually shop in Next but Sainsbury also do a great range of 3 packs which are perfect for nursery. Best to keep the colours dark I find!
A fashion over site most of the time but one I felt I should include are socks. Nothing more annoying than finding those single socks around the house and in the car, the best that I have come across that actually stay on are from Primark at only £2.50 for a pack of 5, what a bargain!
It’s not quite cold enough for her thick winter jacket so a light weight gillet is perfect for our walks to nursery and it means she can easily put it on and take it off if she gets chilly when she’s there. This one by JoJo Maman Bebe is our favourite, it’s fleece lined so really cosy without being too hot.
Scarlett’s footwear for the season are these new little high tops from Clarks. These are so practical and easily wiped clean, and she never moans about putting them on which is a real treat for me!
