Review: City Premier by Baby Jogger

Already a huge fan of the City Mini Double by Baby Jogger, I was delighted when they got in touch to ask me to review their latest design, the City Premier. We bought the double almost 4 years ago after having Savannah, and it has joined us on every holiday and every major outing since. It has never let us down and has seriously survived the test of time being battered in and out of planes! So did the City Premier live up to my high expectations?

Yes.

It is everything I loved about the double with the added bonus of a larger storage basket and a hand break (and of course the ease of pushing a single!!).

The large sports like wheels make it incredibly light and easy to manoeuvre and despite the large wheels, it’s incredibly compact which was the biggest appeal to me with the double.

DSC03901.jpg

It has 5 seat positions for extra comfort. With just a simple squeeze of the handle under the hood the whole seat can be dropped back to a lie flat position which is perfect for sleeping babies. It can also be front or rear facing depending on what suits your little one.

DSC03898.JPG

The Baby Jogger hoods are simply the best! They offer such good coverage plus a UV protection of 50. I was impressed with the hidden magnets to secure the covers on the peek a boo windows, it’s all these little details that makes it feel like a really well thought out design and quality product.

DSC03910.JPG

The big wheels make for a super smooth ride for your baby and the front wheels can be locked for complete control on rougher terrains.

DSC03902.JPG

I much prefer a break that can be controlled with my hands as opposed to my foot, I find releasing breaks with my feet really ruins the top of my shoes!

DSC03912.JPG

You can extend and compress the handle bar easily with a large button on the inside of the bar.

DSC03913.JPG

The seat can be released from the frame easily with the little grey buttons either side of the seat, this is how you can change the seat from forward to rear facing.

DSC03915.JPG

I am SERIOUSLY impressed with the glider board that attaches to the back of the buggy for Savannah to ride on. I had previously used a generic board for this and found I was constantly smacking my shins on it with every pace I made! It was also very rickety and felt quite unstable when in use and was generally such a palaver to stow away I very rarely used it. In comparison, this board is absolutely brilliant. It feels so secure and to stow away, it literally clips up on to the buggy and you barely notice it’s there!

DSC03924.JPG

The downside is that I do now have a very lazy 3 year old…

DSC03927.JPG

Finally, we can cross the road safely! Normally it’s a “Right everyone hold on to something or someone!” situation, this little board has made life much easier when I’m on my own with all 3 of them.

DSC03947.JPG

The basket is actually really deep, perfect to store your nappy bag and stuff the kids coats in!

DSC03959.jpg

A sharp pull on this strap is how you collapse the buggy. It does take a bit of getting used to but once you’ve mastered it, it’s very simple and hassle free.

DSC03958.JPG

You can see here how tidy the glider board is when not in use.

DSC03981.JPG

Over all, I am very impressed with the buggy and absolutely recommend this as one to consider for your little ones! Another accessory I have but didn’t get photographed is the Premier Foot Muff which I would totally recommend in this freezing cold weather, it’s such piece of mind knowing how warm and cosy Anastasia is!

The City Premier is priced at £449.99, for more details on this buggy you can check out the Baby Jogger official site here.

My Guide To Weaning And The Essentials You Need

I’ve recently started to wean Anastasia onto solid foods. At 6 months, she was becoming less satisfied on breast milk alone and when she cut her first tooth – I decided it was time to hang up the nursing bras. Despite going through this process twice before with Scarlett and Savannah it has been an entirely new experience. Every baby is different and you never quite know how easy weaning is going to be, so my tip before you embark on this journey is to be prepared with all the modern day essentials to make it as stress free as possible! Here are the items I have used and recommend (click on the links for further information).

Highchair

Making sure your baby is comfortable during meal times is essential. She will need to be fairly upright so that she can easily swallow pureed foods. I am using the stylish Stokke Tripp Trapp chair. It offers great support for this stage with a detachable baby set, but has also been designed to transform into a chair for older children that is the perfect height for a regular dining table. I have this in the hazy grey with the candy stripe cushion but it is available in 12 different colours to work with your kitchen.

IMG_3083

Bibs

This is a great design by BabyBjörn that has an adjustable neck band to last her until early toddler stage and is nice and soft to avoid any discomfort or get in the way. It will catch all food waste and can be easily rinsed ready for the next meal time.

IMG_3084

Spoons and Bowls

You can’t have enough spoons and bowls! The collection by Babymoov are dishwasher, freezer and microwave safe and all come with lids so you can take them out and about. These are also a great size for snacks when they get a little bit older. Go for small, shallow spoons for the early stage – the best I have come across are by Avent.

IMG_2517

IMG_2546

Blender

The NutriBaby by Babymoov is absolutely genius and it’s no surprise that it has won so many awards. It is so compact and takes up very little space on your kitchen counter and allows you to make huge batches of pureed food to freeze for your baby. Using a simple electronic programme on the front of the machine, you can steam the food using the double trays and then transfer the soft food to the blender to puree. Add water from the catching tray (ready made vegetable stock!) to make it the correct consistency and hey presto! Baby food done! This product can also warm bottles, heat through food and even defrost your frozen food. It is absolutely brilliant and so much easier than the hand blender process I’ve used in the past, it means making batches of food uses far less cooking utensils and creates far less mess.

Emergency Reserves

Whilst I am all for home made food, there is nothing wrong with having some ready made meals stored in the fridge and when this brand came to my attention I immediately stocked up! Kiddie Cubes would have made my life so much easier in the past and Anastasia seems to really enjoy the flavours. This frozen food is as fresh as if you had made it yourself using only organic ingredients and stored in ice cube portions so you can take out just what you need on the day. I would also recommend starting off on these to get an idea of what your baby likes, there is nothing more frustrating than making an enormous home made batch to discover your baby gags at the taste!KC-packshots-015-eat-your-greens

Review: Liberty’s Exclusive Collaboration with Mamas & Papas

Mamas & Papas have teamed up with Liberty London to create a stunning collection of strollers with matching accessories. These buggies are so stylish even the glossy fashion mags such as Grazia are raving about them! I was offered the opportunity to review the Urbo² Travel System which has had a serious makeover for the new collection with luxury leather handles, printed chest pads and the distinctive and iconic Liberty London peacock feather print. Where better to give it the first test drive than Hampton Court Palace on a recent family day out, check out pics and my feedback below…

Anastasia is almost 7 months old so we went straight into the stroller seat but for a new born you can get a truly beautiful special edition chrome bassinet in matching print.

IMG_2844

The stroller has adjustable handle bars to suit any height and the groove on the handle is perfect to keep my essential buggy clip to hang my nappy bag.

IMG_2658

You really can’t knock the look of this premium buggy, the shiny chrome, tanned leather handles and quilted seat really are the ultimate in luxury baby gear. IMG_2812

IMG_2784

The seat has several positions so that even a tiny baby can lie flat when sleeping and older babies can be upright for sight seeing!

IMG_2785

The edge of the seat can be lifted for extra comfort to support Anastasia’s legs  until her little feet can reach the chrome foot rest beneath, and in this section of the seat is a hidden zip to keep the mosquito net – they have literally thought of everything! (Excuse the extremely windswept hair!)

IMG_2822

The basket is just big enough for all of your essentials and is shallow enough to reach everything easily.  As with most of the Mamas & Papas strollers, the hoods are really deep so even laying almost flat, Anastasia has plenty of shelter from wind and sun. IMG_2678

With other small children in tow, it is essential for me to have a buggy that is easy to push and navigate single handed and as you can see, even on a stoney terrain it is no problem at all. IMG_2762

Every detail screams luxury, even the product name is on a leather label!

IMG_2775

Whilst this is marketed as a city stroller, the option for locking the front wheels makes pushing off road just as easy.

IMG_2816The quilted seat is branded with the liberty logo and offers serious comfort for tiny people.IMG_2814

The folding mechanism is so easy, it quite literally collapses without any fuss making it very easy to lift into the boot of the car and the small city wheels mean this buggy will comfortably fit into very small spaces.

IMG_2904

Overall I am massively impressed with the Urbo² Travel System, I wish I could have had more use out of the bassinet as this really is the ultimate in new born luxury. And whilst I have previously avoided such bold prints, the Liberty design is so iconic that there is no risk of it going out of style. I absolutely love this buggy and feel very proud pushing Anastasia around in it 🙂

There’s also children’s fashion and homewares in vintage Liberty prints available at Mamas & Papas, some of which will be making it in to next month’s Christmas gift guide, for now – you can check out the full collection here.

Review: Britax Revolution Pro Stroller

Since Anastasia was a couple of months old, I have tried to do at least one session of exercise a week whilst the girls are at school and nursery. Even though my body is constantly active – walking, carrying, chasing… until I actually get my lycra on I don’t feel like I have had a work out. I started with aqua aerobics, but 2 weeks later I decided this wasn’t for me – the pool was too cold. I toyed with the idea of going to the gym but soon laughed this one off… Now I power walk / lightly jog whilst enjoying a gossip with my friend around Virginia Waters once a week and I absolutely love it! Up until recently I just used my regular day buggy to jog the 4.2 miles around the lake and didn’t really think anything of it, but now I have been introduced to BOB – my sports buggy, and I don’t think there is any going back.

The Revolution Pro by Britax was sent to me a few weeks ago in return for an honest review. Well here it is…

Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 18.43.02

The Revolution Pro is a state of the art 3 wheel buggy suitable for running and skating. You can see from the pics, it is a pretty serious piece of kit!
Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 18.43.22

It offers comfort for Anastasia on any terrain with it’s adjustable suspension and high impact wheels.

Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 18.43.15

The wheels look like they belong on a bike! They make it so easy to push, I can steer this no problem with one hand going around any bend, on any terrain. That little red button above the front wheel adjusts the wheels to be suitable for ‘sport’ and ‘city’ but whilst this is a great optional extra, make no mistake, this buggy is for the great outdoors – it was all kinds of dangerous steering around the clothes rails in House of Fraser due to its length!

Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 18.43.19

Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 18.43.11

It even has a hand brake to slow you down or stop instantly if you are travelling too fast (I haven’t actually needed to use this yet). Of course it has your regular parking brake which is unbelievably efficient on any hill. The handle bars are very adjustable, they can even move down to Scarlett’s level so she is also a big fan of this buggy!

Making the most of the September sun!

Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 18.43.07

Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 18.43.20

Just like a regular buggy, it has ample storage by way of a basket under the seat so I can still take out the days essentials for Anastasia and me.Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 18.43.05

Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 18.43.13

Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 18.42.58

It takes babies from 6 months until they are 3 but can be used from birth with the additional carry cot. It is priced at £455 and you can get more details on the specifications here. If I was forced to say something negative it would be that due to it’s bulk, it can be tricky to get it in and out of the car, but actually it’s the bulk and the wheels that set it apart from a regular buggy so I suppose you can’t have it all!

We love our mornings around the lake and the Revolution Pro has made it even more enjoyable, if you are looking for an easy activity to get fit with a baby in tow, then invest in this super buggy and start jogging somewhere beautiful!

Review: Pacapod Madison Changing Bag

It has been a long time coming, but the Madison by Pacapod was certainly worth the wait. This is the latest style in their luxury collection of baby changing bags and I am thrilled to say I am one of the first to receive it! So without further-ado, I have photographed the hell out of it to try and give justice to this beautiful bag but if you get the chance to sample it in the flesh, grab it. This is set to be the next iconic nappy bag and I love it!

Available in soft tan leather, this structured 1960’s style bag with a classic top carry handle is the perfect combination of style and practicality.

IMG_1431

The front features two large pockets with magnetic fastenings which makes reaching for your essentials far easier than routing around internal pockets.

This is where I keep my phone, my lipstick and a bag of chocolate buttons (no mum of a toddler should leave the house without these – these are an instant tantrum remedy.)

IMG_1433

The chunky gold detail takes it from an ordinary nappy bag to serious arm candy.

IMG_1434

IMG_1435

The entire front panel zips open to reveal enough space for all your day to day hand bag essentials; the sunnies, wallet, sun creams and anti bac sprays, as well as the bulky necessities such as spare baby clothes and muslins.

IMG_1436

IMG_1437

At the back is another full zip to access the largest compartment of the bag.

IMG_1439

IMG_1441

In here are kept Pacapod’s signature Changer and Feeder Pods.

IMG_1442

IMG_1455

The Changer Pod is big enough for everything you need to change your baby. Nappies, wipes, creams and nappy bags. There are 4 separate compartments within the pod to keep everything incredibly organised…

IMG_1443

The pod has a further compartment on the back for the changing mat to be neatly stowed away. These little pods mean you dont need to take the entire bag for a quick nappy change in the restaurant toilets, you can just grab the changing pod and go – genius!

IMG_1446

The insulated feeder pod is perfect for keeping food warm and milk bottles cool. We haven’t entered the ‘weaning’ stage with Anastasia yet but this bag is perfect for my older girls. I keep the emergency stash of snacks in here as well as their water bottles.

IMG_1454

Again, rather than rummaging through the bag, or taking out a separate lunch bag – I can keep it all in here and only need to take out this bag for food and drinks. It has ruck sack straps on the back too which means the girls enjoy carrying it themselves!

IMG_1451

The bag is slightly larger than most nappy bags, but you would be surprised how quickly you’ll fill it! It means I only ever need one bag to take out with me, and if I ever need more space, I can take out the pods leaving a huge compartment for things like jumpers and blankets for the girls.

The Madison retails at £290 and is available for Pre-Order with an expected delivery mid August. For more information check out the official Pacapod site here.

Little Butterfly London has been created by a mother who shares our passion for wanting only the very best for our babies.

I don’t like to put too many products on to my babies delicate skin, but for bath time, soothing baby massages and a little moisturiser to keep my baby as comfortable as possible, I have now been totally converted to the organic collection by Little Butterfly London. Here is what I think of the products I have tried…

Floating On Clouds Bedtime Bathmilk, £25.50

If it was good enough for Cleopatra!? This lotion is made using buttermilk with various other extracts of goodness including cucumber seed oil and avocado oil. All I know is, it smells divine and she seems happy enough bathing in it!

Fall Into Dreams Mother & Baby Massage Oil, £29

After a bath, I love to give Anastasia a soothing massage, she seems so content and relaxed whilst enjoying her full body rub! This oil nourishes, protects, heals and hydrates the skin with it’s magical concoction of natural ingredients. It also offers soothing support to those with eczema. It is lightly fragranced and absorbs quickly into her skin.

Soft As Moonlight Nappy Change Cream, £25.50

This is such a rich moisturiser, it looks almost like a mousse but absorbs leaving a light oil on the skin. As the hero product of the collection, it promises to deeply nourish delicate skin and protect and heal any areas prone to irritation. I only apply this in the morning for her first nappy change and so far, she hasn’t shown any signs of redness or discomfort.

IMG_1420

IMG_1423

It is worth mentioning that whilst all of these products have been created using only natural ingredients, they have all been approved and are highly recommended by healthcare professionals.

Anastasia’s Nursery

Finally the nursery is complete! In a total contrast to the girls bold prints and bright colours, Anastasia’s nursery is calm and tranquil with new white furniture and pastel coloured textiles. Her room is quite small so using these shades opened up the space and makes it feel much bigger than it is. Let me talk you through the details…

I have written more about this fabulous Stokke furniture here but to summarise; it is simply amazing. Not only does everything in it have a dual purpose (the crib will one day be Anastasia’s first writing desk!) it is unbelievably stylish. It is also brilliant quality, Paul put it all together which normally results in a few days hard graft, a lot of swearing and a few wobbly bits on the finished article – but this took no time at all and is remarkably sturdy. It is also designed to be space saving so perfect for such a small room.

This gorgeous lamp shade is part of the Millie & Boris collection at Mamas and Papas, it fits in perfectly with the calming shades of the rest of the room and gives a warm light through the fabric.

The wooden pictures are also from Mamas and Papas and have been saved from Scarlett’s nursery 4 years ago.

This summer sleeping bag is by Stokke. It is linen with a soft jersey lining to keep Anastasia warm and cosy at night. You can see the bottom is currently folded up but should last until she is at least 6 months when unfolded.

The cot bed is the real star of the show with its beautiful drapes and tent roof. It’s the textiles that impressed me the most with this set; the way they are made and fit to the furniture, it makes it so easy to remove or replace them later on down the line when this is a play tent and no longer used for sleeping!

This beautiful quilt is by Susie Watson and doubles as a play mat. It is part of the Bird and Flower collection. I imagine there will be more of this print making its way into the nursery eventually…

This fabric covered letter was a gift for Anastasia from Mamas & Papas and the colours work perfectly in the room!

Our new baby monitor is by Withings, it isn’t wired up yet as Anastasia is still in our room, but it’s such a stylish little gizmo I thought I’d put it up anyway! With it’s wide angle view, 12 x zoom, HD crystal clear video stream, time-lapsed recap function and sound alerts straight to your phone for noise and air quality (it’s also compatible with the new Apple watch in case you’re interested!); this is a seriously smart little monitor that will be useful long after the baby days.

The other talking point of the room is this fabulous canvas. It is the name celebration print by Illuminated Canvas, fitted with fairy lights that give a gorgeous glow to the room at night. It works on standard batteries and has a discreet switch on the side – a great alternative to a standard night light!

This stylish toy storage is also a little ‘push along’ for when Anastasia is ready to try walking! This is from Vertbaudet and currently in the sale!

The two products I really swear by for a new born are by Burts Bees and Little Butterfly London. Both of which I use on my own skin! The Little Butterfly London nappy cream works wonders on your hands after soothing babies bottom! And the Baby Bee oil is used when I give Anastasia a full body massage after her bath.

And finally this beautiful Daisy Chain bunting that transforms our stark white walls in to a cosy and playful room is again, by Susie Watson.

I wonder when she’ll actually sleep in it?!
